三、「若作」下，約事觀檢。經文既云「無明故有，愛取心強」，須作不淨助道之觀，觀邪見惡心是穢惡陰、若善直心？慚於義天、愧於聖人，入方便位。真理未明，是隱沒陰；善惡雖異，皆未破見。豈有見心不依於色？色須敗壞，故云不淨。不淨之境何處有人？今方便位，義當五品也。

Third, from "If one performs..." onward, examining in terms of the contemplation of phenomena: since the sūtra text says, "It exists because of ignorance, and the mind of craving and grasping is strong," one must practice the contemplation of impurity as an auxiliary to the path, contemplating evil minds of wrong views as the defiled and foul aggregates. What about wholesome and upright minds? One feels shame before the heaven of doctrine and conscience before the noble ones, entering the stage of expedients. When the true principle has not yet been clarified, this is the hidden aggregate; although good and evil differ, neither has yet broken through [wrong] views. How could a mind possessing views not rely on form? Form must decay and disintegrate, hence it is termed impure. Where within an impure objective realm is there a person? The present stage of expedients corresponds in sense to the five grades [of disciples].
