二、「今更」下，更推因起。因緣之觀通三世者，意推過去無明為因，生於現果，現果之上復起惑因。本欲即今無明不起，是故今推過現二處起無明相。文二：

Second, from "Now further" onward, further investigating the arising of causes. That the contemplation of dependent origination applies throughout the three lifetimes means the intent is to investigate past ignorance as the cause that produces present results, and upon the present results the causes of affliction arise again. Originally desiring that present ignorance not arise right now, one therefore now investigates the characteristics of the arising of ignorance in both the past and present. The text has two parts:
