Fourth, the "Chapter on the Earth Goddess Dṛḍhā" has two parts: first, explaining the title, which has two parts: first, correctly explaining the name, which has two parts: first, establishing the four siddhāntas based on the wisdom symbolized. The Vimalakīrti says: "Wisdom (prajñāpāramitā) is the bodhisattva's mother, expedient means is the father; of all the guides of beings, there are none who are not born from them." Above was a heavenly deity; heaven is yang, hence like a father. Here it is an earth deity; earth is yin, hence like a mother. As for "the single principle", because father and mother are different, it belongs to the worldly [siddhānta]. The yang of heaven covers from above; the yin of earth bears from below. Hui is the general name for grasses. Mu is the collective term for trees. From "Wisdom" onward matches the metaphor. All goods match the grasses and trees. From "Each has" onward: for instance, giving counteracts stinginess, up to dhyāna counteracting distraction. These five belong to conditional causes, so they are not yet obliterated. Only when wisdom breaks through arising dharmas is there neither name nor mark; being the foremost in destroying evil, it corresponds to the counteractive [siddhānta]. When the perfection of wisdom returns to the source, both breaking and establishing are forgotten; hence it is unequaled and unsurpassable, named the supreme truth [siddhānta]. This establishes the four siddhāntas regarding the perfection of wisdom.
