初、聞經生解。或相似解或分真解，經無定判，故須從容。經「心無垢累」等，如下釋疑疏中明。

First, giving rise to understanding upon hearing the sūtra. Whether resemblance understanding or partial realization understanding, the sūtra gives no fixed determination; thus one must remain flexible. The sūtra's "minds free from defilement and entanglements," etc., is explained in the commentary below resolving doubts.
