Second, from 'Former' below, concluding superiority. First, pointing out inferiority: the worldly matters of humans and devas, the shallow principles of the Piṭaka and Common, and the sequential nature of the Separate Teaching—these are therefore narrow and blocked; none of these are paths that thoroughly penetrate the non-duality of cultivation and nature. Only the Perfect and real precepts contain all within one, vast and boundless, being identical to phenomena yet the Middle, profound and unfathomable. The paths of the ordinary and the lesser must harmonize the differences of adverse and favorable; being able to equate with the Middle among the ten precepts is called the ultimate precept.
