Third, from "hearing the prophecy" below, clarifying the persons who awaken in accord with the sūtra. There is no attaining Buddhahood that does not possess the three bodies; the fruit of the three bodies is due to hearing the Golden Light today as the wonderful cause. From the illumination of Dharma-nature, an earnest mind arises, which is the cause of the response body; from the light of Dharma-nature, an undefiled mind arises, which is the cause of the reward body; from the gold of Dharma-nature, an empty-space mind arises, which is the cause of the Dharma body. This Golden Light is not two and not distinct from the three virtues. The three virtues are the basis, adorned by immeasurable merits. Revealing these three virtues either in resemblance or in reality, the Tathāgata therefore bestows upon them the prophecy of the fruit. The benefit of hearing the sūtra is of such a character.
