Second, explaining "running water", in two: first, listing the two waters. "Flowing and removing" means that the water flows away, which is the meaning of removal. Second, from "Flowing and removing..." downward, explains the two waters. When speaking of karmic causes, outside of the retributive fruition the nine benefits can all remove karmic causes; now the ten titles and the rest reveal what is removed through that which can remove it. The Sūtra on the Twelve Links of Causes and Conditions is praised as profound, proving that the three refuges and the ten titles are all perfect expositions; although Dharmakṣema's translation lacks the text of the three refuges, the Suvarṇaprabhāsottama Sūtra has it, and Paramārtha's translation must have had it as well, for in the ritual of bestowing the Dharma it cannot be omitted.
