經　「譬如三千大千世界所有眾生一時皆得成就人身，得人身已成獨覺道。若有男子女人盡其形壽，恭敬尊重四事供養，一一獨覺各施七寶如須彌山。此諸獨覺入涅槃後，皆以珍寶起塔供養，其塔高廣十二踰繕那，以諸華香寶幢旛蓋常為供養。善男子！於意云何？是人所獲功德寧為多不？」天帝釋言：「甚多。世尊！」「善男子！若復有人於此《金光明》微妙經典眾經之王〈滅業障品〉受持讀誦、憶念不忘、為他廣說，所獲功德於前所說供養功德百分不及一，百千萬億分乃至校量譬喻所不能及。何以故？是善男子善女人住正行中，勸請十方一切諸佛轉無上法輪，皆為諸佛歡喜讚歎。善男子！如我所說，一切施中法施為勝。」

Sūtra: "Suppose, for example, that all sentient beings in a great trichiliocosm were at once to achieve human bodies, and having attained human bodies, achieved the path of a pratyekabuddha. If there were a man or a woman who, to the end of their lives, respectfully and venerably made offerings of the four requisites, bestowing on each single pratyekabuddha the seven treasures like Mount Sumeru; and after all these pratyekabuddhas entered nirvāṇa, erected stūpas with precious jewels to make offerings, the stūpas being twelve yojanas high and wide, constantly making offerings with various flowers, incense, jewelled banners, flags, and canopies—good son, what do you think? Would the merit obtained by this person be much?" Śakra, King of the Devas, said: "Very much, World-Honoured One!" [The Buddha said:] "Good son, if there were another person who accepts, upholds, reads, recites, bears in mind without forgetting, and extensively explains for others this 'Chapter on the Eradication of Karmic Obstacles' from this sublime scripture, the Sūtra of Golden Light, the king among all sūtras, the merit they obtain would not be matched by a hundredth part of the aforementioned merit of offerings, nor a hundred-thousand-myriad-koṭi-th part, up to being beyond the reach of calculation and analogy. Why is this? Because these good sons and good women abide in correct practice and entreat all the buddhas of the ten directions to turn the unexcelled wheel of the Dharma, and are all joyfully praised by all the buddhas. Good son, as I have said, among all gifts, the gift of the Dharma is supreme."
