二釋名者，梵云呬囉（此云金）跋底（此云勝）陀羅尼（此云總持）。金者是喻，陀羅尼是法，勝通法喻。金中之勝如贍部金，此總持勝亦復如是，取金為喻，義同於前〈三身品〉說。

Second, explaining the title: in Sanskrit it is called hiranyavati (here meaning 'golden victory') dhāraṇī (here meaning 'retention'). 'Golden' is the metaphor, 'dhāraṇī' is the teaching, and 'victory' applies to both the teaching and the metaphor. Just as the supreme among gold is Jāmbūnada gold, so too is the supremacy of this dhāraṇī; taking gold as a metaphor has the same meaning as that explained previously in the 'Chapter on the Three Bodies.'
