4.380

贊曰：此兩頌明除妄想行慈悲行。除他破戒垢故持戒，戒為諸善之根本故，所以先明。為除他貪故行布施。為除他瞋及懈怠故行忍等諸度。此諸度各多差別，一一遍修得圓滿已方成正覺。

Commentary: These two verses clarify eliminating false notions and practicing loving-kindness and compassion. Precepts are upheld to eliminate the defilement of others' breaking precepts; because precepts are the root of all good, they are explained first. Giving is practiced to eliminate others' greed. Patience and the other pāramitās are practiced to eliminate others' anger and indolence. In these various pāramitās, each has many distinctions; only when one cultivates each and every one fully and attains perfection does one achieve right awakening.
