5.193

下勸人護，通王及人。此中勤護，令聽受等皆是能讚經能，意令弘護。於中分二：初二頌法說；後三頌喻合。法中，初一頌聽受得樂，有三：一得樂、一無違、一隨心；後一頌離苦、一離怨賊侵敗苦故得國安、二離諸災疫苦則離苦惱等。

Commentary: Below, encouraging humans to protect, extending to kings and common people. Here, diligently protecting, causing them to listen, receive, and so forth are all the praised capabilities of the sūtra, intended to cause them to propagate and protect it. Herein it is divided into two: the first two verses are the doctrinal teaching; the latter three verses are the matching of similes. In the doctrine, the first verse is listening and receiving to obtain joy, which has three aspects: first, obtaining joy; second, having no opposition; third, according with one's wishes. The latter verse is leaving suffering: first, leaving the suffering of invasion and defeat by hostile thieves, thereby obtaining peace for the country; second, leaving the suffering of various calamities and pestilences, thereby leaving suffering and affliction, and so forth.
