品文分四：一歎結醫能、二「善女天」下明救魚行、三「爾時佛告」下結會今古、四「爾時大眾」下領悟依學。初中復四：初結眾病除、次「時諸眾生」下明眾增福業、次「即共往詣」下眾往禮讚、次「如是稱歎」下總結名聞。

The chapter's text is divided into four: first, praising and concluding his medical capabilities; second, from 'O Devī' onward, explaining the deeds of saving the fish; third, from 'At that time the Buddha said' onward, concluding by connecting the present with the past; fourth, from 'At that time the great assembly' onward, their realization and emulation. Within the first, there are again four: first, concluding the elimination of the assembly's illnesses; next, from 'At that time the sentient beings' onward, explaining the assembly's increase of meritorious karma; next, from 'They then went together' onward, the assembly going to pay homage and praise him; next, from 'In this way praises' onward, summarizing his widespread fame.
