Below is the second [part], grieving and deliberating together. Herein there are seven [parts]: First, the crown prince sees the suffering and feels pity. Second, from "Prince Sattva" onward, Sattva asks what she eats. Third, from "The first prince" onward, the crown prince answers that she eats flesh and blood. Fourth, from "The second prince" onward, Mahādeva hears this and feels stinginess and fear. Fifth, from "The first prince" onward, the crown prince explains the difficulty of giving up one's body. Sixth, from "Prince Sattva" onward, Sattva weighs advancing and retreating in deliberation; herein there are three: first, reproaching his own lack of ability; next, acknowledging the power of others; and later, reflecting in his mind. First, reproaching his own lack of ability has three causes: one, having craving and attachment; two, from "lacking wisdom" onward, lacking great wisdom; and three, from "unable to" onward, lacking great compassion. Because he has craving and attachment, he cannot produce the thought of revulsion toward the conditioned; because he lacks great wisdom, he cannot produce the mind aspiring to bodhi; because he lacks great compassion, he cannot produce the mind of benefiting sentient beings. Due to this, he cannot give up his body to benefit living beings.
