Below is the sixth [section], portents moving humans and devas. Herein there are two: First, the manifestation of portents; there are three: one, the earth shaking in six ways; two, the sun and moon having no light; three, the heavens raining fragrant flowers throughout the forest as an offering. From "At that time, in the sky" onward is the assembly beholding; this also has three: first, beholding; second, sympathetic joy; third, praise. The praise has three: the first two lines praise his equal compassion; the next two lines praise his generosity; the latter four lines praise the fruit he will attain. Within the fruit he will attain, the first two lines jointly praise bodhi and nirvāṇa, both of which are called "eternal" based on three kinds of eternity; the latter two lines specifically praise bodhi and nirvāṇa, "quiescent" being nirvāṇa. Or, both that which can quell and that which is quelled are called quiescent. The "unarisen" is nirvāṇa.
