授記品二十三，三門分別。言來意者，就學行流通有五，此即第五成前諸品令學行意。有三：一為授記、二為除疑、三更重勸。此初也。與記者，明行必得果，果定因成，故〈護持〉後有〈授記品〉。

Chapter 23, 'Bestowal of Prophecy', is analyzed through three gateways. Regarding the purpose of its occurrence: with respect to the propagation through study and practice, there are five sections; this is the fifth, fulfilling the preceding chapters to effect the intent of study and practice. It has three parts: 1. to bestow prophecy, 2. to eliminate doubt, 3. to exhort once again. This is the first. 'Bestowing prophecy' (vyākaraṇa) clarifies that practice will certainly attain the fruit; when the fruit is definite, the cause is accomplished. Therefore, after 'Protection' comes the 'Chapter on Bestowal of Prophecy'.
