6.51

言釋名者，授者付也與也，記者分別也驗也。為其分別，驗其當果，而以與之，故名授記。

Regarding the explanation of the title: 'Bestowing' (shou) means delivering and granting; 'prophesying' (ji) means distinguishing and verifying. Discerning for them, verifying their future fruit, and granting it to them is therefore called 'bestowing prophecy' (vyākaraṇa).
