Commentary: Specific praise. First, it praises their karmic deeds of merit; next, with "cultivated the saddharma" and so forth, it praises their karmic deeds of wisdom; finally, from "you for the long night" onward, it praises their karmic deeds of compassion. These are the first two. In the presence of all buddhas they cultivated the three kinds of action (trīṇi karmāṇi): making offerings and revering is physical action, honoring is mental action, and praising is verbal action. According to the Renwang bore jing, by making offerings to buddhas for one asaṃkhyeya [kalpa], one is able to reach the first bhūmi and become the four heavenly kings.
