彼身轉者，謂彼五識轉生六識，而識亦不自謂展轉相因而生，皆由自心所現妄計前境，境有生滅，轉亦隨之。或以彼境有變壞之相，識亦俱轉。又以彼識分別諸境而識轉，故曰「謂彼轉」也。

"When those groups evolve" means that those five consciousnesses evolve to produce the sixth consciousness, yet the consciousnesses do not themselves think that they arise by mutually causing one another; they all arise because, through false conceptualization of the objective realms that appear from one's own mind—and as realms have arising and ceasing—evolution follows along with them. Or, because those realms have characteristics of change and destruction, the consciousnesses also evolve together [with them]. Furthermore, because those consciousnesses discriminate the various realms, the consciousnesses evolve; hence it is said, 'this is termed their evolution.'
