真如界中尚不當無，安得言有？非有說有，名建立常見也；非無說無，名誹謗斷見也。大慧設此以問：云何離此二見，當得菩提，不謗正法耶？

In the realm of tathatā, even nonexistence is not appropriate; how could one speak of existence? To speak of existence where there is no existence is called the eternalist view of affirmation; to speak of nonexistence where there is no nonexistence is called the annihilationist view of deprecation. Mahāmati raised this to ask: how can one be free from these two views, attain bodhi, and not slander the true Dharma?
