此釋建立初相中，言非有相建立者，謂於陰界入自相共相本無所有而生計著，云此如是、此不異。如是者，自相也；不異者，共相也。然此非有相建立相非始今世，故云無始虛偽習氣計著生也。

In explaining the first characteristic of affirmation, to say 'affirming non-existent lakṣaṇa' means that where there is fundamentally no svalakṣaṇa or sāmānyalakṣaṇa in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, one gives rise to clinging, saying 'this is thus; this is not different.' 'Thus' is svalakṣaṇa; 'not different' is sāmānyalakṣaṇa. However, this characteristic of affirming non-existent lakṣaṇa did not begin in the present life; hence it says that it arises from beginningless false vāsanā and clinging.
