大慧白佛言：「世尊！惑亂為有為無？」佛告大慧：「如幻，無計著相。若惑亂有計著相者，計著性不可滅，緣起應如外道說因緣生法。」

Mahāmati addressed the Buddha, saying: "World-Honoured One, is delusion existent or nonexistent?" The Buddha told Mahāmati: "It is like an illusion, without the lakṣaṇa of grasping. If delusion had the lakṣaṇa of grasping, the svabhāva of grasping could not be eliminated, and paratantra would be like the dharmas produced from causes and conditions spoken of by tīrthikas."
