"Furthermore, Mahāmati! I shall explain the characteristics of nāmakāya, padakāya, and vyañjanakāya. Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas who skillfully observe nāmakāya, padakāya, and vyañjanakāya, and conformingly enter the meaning, sentences, and syllables, quickly attain anuttarā samyaksambodhi. Having awakened thus, they awaken all sentient beings. Mahāmati! As for nāmakāya, if one establishes a name based on an entity, this is called nāmakāya. As for padakāya, sentences have a collection of meanings, their self-nature is determinate and definitive; this is called padakāya. As for vyañjanakāya, it reveals names and sentences; this is called vyañjanakāya. Furthermore, vyañjanakāya refers to long, short, high, and low. Furthermore, padakāya refers to footprints, like the tracks made by elephants, horses, humans, beasts, and so on; it gets the name of padakāya. Mahāmati! As for name and form: names are spoken of with reference to the four formless aggregates, and forms are spoken of because their svalakṣaṇa appears. These are called nāmakāya, padakāya, and vyañjanakāya. You should train in and study the exposition of the limits and characteristics of nāmakāya, padakāya, and vyañjanakāya."
