"Furthermore, Mahāmati! In future times, the wise will question the unwise using the meaning I have penetrated, which is free from the marks of views of identity and difference, both and neither. The latter will immediately answer, 'This is not a proper question.' That is to say, regarding whether form and so forth are permanent or impermanent, different or not different; and likewise regarding nirvāṇa and conditioned formations, characteristics and the characterized, guṇa and that which possesses guṇa, the created and the creator, seeing and the seen, atoms and subtle atoms, cultivation and the cultivator—such interdependent marks. When questioned about such things, they will say that the Buddha taught the cessation of discussion through the undeclared (avyākrta), which cannot be known by those foolish persons, because they lack the wisdom of hearing. It was in order to cause them to be free from phrases of terror that the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha spoke of the undeclared and did not declare it. Moreover, it was to put an end to the tīrthikas' philosophical debates that he did not speak of it."
