三結正當初果所斷，見惑與八十八使，廣略之異耳。言亦有下中上者，以結惑從人根性而分為三也。上上昇進等者，於此斷惑證果，合有三斷四超。言上上者，約大超根性而說也。

The three fetters are precisely what is severed at the first fruit; between them and the delusions of view with the eighty-eight proclivities, there is only a difference of brevity and detail. Saying that they also have lower, middling, and superior is because the fetters and delusions are divided into three according to the faculties of the person. 'Advancing progressively', and so forth: in severing delusions and realizing fruits here, there are altogether three severances and four transcendences. The term 'progressively' is spoken with reference to faculties capable of great transcendence.
