「大慧！彼生滅者是識，不生不滅者是智。復次，墮相無相及墮有無種種相因是識，超有無相是智。復次，長養相是識，非長養相是智。」

"Mahāmati! That which arises and ceases is vijñāna; that which neither arises nor ceases is jñāna. Furthermore, falling into lakṣaṇa and non-lakṣaṇa, and falling into the manifold causes of the lakṣaṇas of existence and nonexistence, is vijñāna; transcending the lakṣaṇas of existence and nonexistence is jñāna. Furthermore, the lakṣaṇa of accumulation and nourishment is vijñāna; the lakṣaṇa of non-accumulation and non-nourishment is jñāna."
