「大慧！云何為義？謂離一切妄想相、言說相，是名為義。大慧！菩薩摩訶薩於如是義，獨一靜處聞思修慧，緣自覺了，向涅槃城，習氣身轉變已，自覺境界，觀地地中間勝進義相，是名菩薩摩訶薩善義。」

"Mahāmati! What is meaning? That is, freedom from all marks of vikalpa and marks of discursive speech is called meaning. Mahāmati! Bodhisattva mahāsattvas, regarding such meaning, abide alone in a quiet place, cultivate the wisdom of hearing, contemplation, and practice, and with self-realized awareness, proceed toward the city of nirvāṇa. Having transformed the vāsanā-body, in the realm of their own self-realization, they contemplate the marks of superior progressive meaning across the stages. This is called a bodhisattva mahāsattva's being skilled in meaning."
