The first four lines summarize the versification of freedom from various views. From 'Natures have no destruction' onward summarizes the refutation of all views, meaning that although they falsely discriminate impermanence, the own-nature of the four great elements does not perish; hence it says 'the great elements abide in their own nature.' Furthermore, saying 'For those tīrthikas and the like' repeatedly indicates the tīrthikas, meaning that what they calculate originally has no reality of arising and perishing, and the nature of the four great elements is inherently permanent as it is; how can they definitely say they make a notion of impermanence? Again showing it from the essential, it says 'Everything is mind-measure alone' and so forth. The Ru Lengqie says: 'Grasper and grasped, all are mind alone; the two appear from mind; there is no self or what belongs to self.' The tīrthikas reckon that Īśvara first created sentient beings as the root of sentient existence, like a tree producing branches and leaves spreading everywhere. The Buddha says that what I have spoken of regarding such attachments of the tīrthikas is entirely the measure of their falsely discriminating mind.
