"Mahāmati, it is like the sands of the Ganges: when trampled by all fish, turtles, śiśumāras, lions, elephants, horses, humans, and beasts, the sand does not think, 'They are troubling me,' and generate vikalpa; its nature is pure and free from defilements. In the Ganges of the pratyātmāryajñāna of the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, the sands of great powers, supernatural faculties, and masteries are troubled by all tīrthikas, humans, beasts, and the like, yet the Tathāgata does not think and generate vikalpa. The Tathāgata is tranquil, without thoughts. The Tathāgata's fundamental vow is to pacify sentient beings with the bliss of samādhi; therefore, there is no troubling, just like the sands of the Ganges, without any difference, and also because he has cut off greed and anger."
