A kṣaṇa is the briefest unit of time, the infinitesimal limit of a thought. As it is said: 'In the time of a strong man's finger-snap, there are sixty-one kṣaṇas.' Hence, the unceasing arising and cessation of mental thoughts is called a kṣaṇa. Moreover, the impermanence and changing destruction of things is a kṣaṇa; these are all the deceptive consciousness-marks of sentient beings. Above, it was said that 'the vikalpa-body transforms', which spoke of the impermanence of the skandhas and so forth; thus the momentary destructibility of all dharmas was raised as an inquiry. In the answer, the names of all dharmas are first listed, and then explained.
