皇帝既御寶曆，丕弘儒典，參用佛乘，以化成天下。且以《般若心經》及《金剛》、《楞伽》二經發明心學，寔為迷塗之日月，苦海之舟航。乃洪武十年冬十月，詔天界禪師（臣宗泐）、演福法師（臣如玘），重加箋釋。明年春正月，《心經》、《金剛經》新註成，甞徹叡覽，已刊行矣。秋七月，《楞伽》註又成，上御西華樓，（宗泐如玘）同侍從之臣投進。上覽已悅曰：「此經之註，誠為精確，可流布海內，使學者講習焉。」

The Emperor, having acceded to the precious throne, vastly propagated the Confucian classics and integrated the Buddhist vehicle to educate and transform all under Heaven. Moreover, with the Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya and the two sūtras Vajracchedikā and Laṅkā, he illuminated the learning of the mind, which is truly a sun and moon upon the path of delusion and a boat across the sea of suffering. Thus, in the tenth month in winter of the tenth year of Hongwu, he decreed that the Chan Master of Tianjie, your subject Zongle, and the Dharma Master of Yanfu, your subject Ruqi, should re-annotate and explain them. In the first month in spring of the following year, the new commentaries on the Heart Sūtra and the Diamond Sūtra were completed, were submitted for imperial review, and have already been printed and distributed. In the seventh month in autumn, the commentary on the Laṅkā was also completed; His Majesty proceeded to the Xihua Pavilion, and Zongle and Ruqi, together with the attendant ministers, presented it. His Majesty, having reviewed it, said with pleasure: 'The commentary on this sūtra is truly precise; it may be circulated throughout the realm, so that scholars may lecture on and study it.'
