"Mahāmati, this is called the first bodhisattva stage. The bodhisattva-mahāsattva attains the supernatural power of bodhisattva samādhi attainments, accomplished by accumulating roots of virtue over hundreds of thousands of kalpas. Gradually proceeding through the stages to counter the counteracted lakṣaṇa, reaching ultimate comprehension, he arrives at the Dharma Cloud stage, abiding in the sublime palace of the great lotus, seated on the great lotus jeweled lion throne, surrounded by a retinue of bodhisattva-mahāsattvas of his own kind, his body adorned with ornaments of various gems, like gold, campaka flowers, and the radiance of the sun and moon. The hands of all the Supreme Ones arrive from the ten directions and perform his abhiṣeka on that throne in the palace of the great lotus, just like the abhiṣeka of a sovereign wheel-turning king or the crown prince of Śakra, ruler of gods. This is called the supernatural power of the hand of abhiṣeka for a bodhisattva. Mahāmati, these are called the two kinds of supernatural power of bodhisattva-mahāsattvas. If a bodhisattva-mahāsattva abides in these two kinds of supernatural power, he sees all Buddha-Tathāgatas face to face; if it were not so, he would not be able to see them."
