3.172

This follows upon the preceding text, meaning that their false knowledge maintains uninterrupted discrimination regarding the shapes, forms, existence, and nonexistence of external realms; they falsely establish these upon cittadṛśyamātra, cling to the two selves of persons and dharmas, and produce grasping. Because they fail to awaken to the fact that these are merely the measure of their own mind, their false discrimination regarding preceding external realms is uninterrupted, falling into eternalism. Regarding the subsequent substance of wisdom, subject and object are not forgotten, turning into a cognitive hindrance and giving rise to discrimination; because of discrimination, where the existence and nonexistence of external dharmas are found unapprehendable upon examination, they give rise to the view of annihilationism.
