3.193

"'I speak only of the causes of the three realms of existence—beginningless false, deceptive conceptualizations and vāsanās, and various evils; because beings cannot realize the measure of what appears from their own minds, they give rise to false conceptualizations and grasp after external natures. Unlike the doctrine of the tīrthikas, where cognition arises from the conjunction of the three—the self, the sense faculties, and the sense objects—I do not hold this. Brāhmaṇa! I do not speak of a cause, nor do I speak of no-cause; I speak only of the nature of the grasper and the grasped as false conceptualization, positing dependent origination. This is not something that you or others who fall into the continuum of the self that experiences can realize.' Mahāmati! Nirvāṇa, space, and cessation are not three real entities; they are merely three in count."
