"Mahāmati, as for the nirvāṇa of which I speak: it means skillfully realizing that which is cittadṛśyamātra; not clinging to external natures; being free from the catuṣkoṭi; seeing the locus of reality as it is; not falling into the two extremes of vikalpa appearing from one's own mind; where the grasper and the grasped cannot be apprehended; where all measurements do not see anything established; where delusion regarding the real should not be embraced; having abandoned them, attaining the noble Dharma of personal realization; knowing the two kinds of selflessness; abandoning the two afflictions; purifying the two obscurations; forever leaving the two kinds of death; the ever-higher stages and the Tathāgata stage; the profound samādhis like shadows and illusions; and freedom from citta, manas, and manovijñāna—this is called nirvāṇa. Mahāmati, you and the other bodhisattva-mahāsattvas should train and study in this, and should swiftly depart far from all tīrthika views of nirvāṇa."
