This section of concluding refutation has five points in all: First, 'unestablished as what is established' means that because they are all vikalpa, although they postulate nirvāṇa, it does not establish nirvāṇa, and thus is discarded by the wise. Second, it says 'all such people fall into the two extremes.' Third, although they falsely postulate arising and ceasing, in reality how could those dharmas ever arise or cease? Fourth, what they postulate are all perverse treatises; when examined with samyagjñāna, nothing is established. Fifth, because their thoughts fluctuate, departing from the nature of nirvāṇa, therefore none of them attains nirvāṇa. Distinguishing them by these points is sufficient to reveal their falsity.
