The various different suppositions of the non-Buddhists above are precisely delusions regarding this nirvāṇa of fundamentally pure original nature, falling into wrong views, each falsely discriminating to give rise to views of nirvāṇa. Above, cultivating the contemplation of impermanence, not thinking of objects, and forming the notion of nirvāṇa like the extinguishing of a lamp, is this nirvāṇa with remainder of support and without remainder of support. Above, being able to comprehend what is manifested by mind alone, entering the Buddha stage, and transcending the mind, intellect, and consciousness, is called attaining nirvāṇa. This is this great nirvāṇa of non-abiding. (Nirvāṇa was anciently translated as unconditioned, and also as extinction-deliverance. The Tang translation calls it perfect quiescence, meaning that virtues are completely present and barriers are completely exhausted.)
