[Mahāmati] asks: How are the five worldly supernormal faculties and the six supramundane supernormal faculties attained? The six supernormal faculties are the divine eye, the divine ear, knowledge of others' minds, recollection of past lives, psychic power, and the extinction of contaminants (āsravakṣaya). These six cover the practitioners of the three vehicles, differing only in depth, clarity, and obscuration. Worldly supernormal faculties lack the extinction of contaminants; though they partially acquire the first five, these are still subsumed only under the contaminated (sāsrava).
