4.41

This speaks of falsely calculating arising from the four conditions: that which directly accomplishes the fruit is called the direct cause condition; that which mutually relies [on objects] is called the objective support condition; that which guides before and after in succession is called the immediate condition; and that which does not obstruct arising is called the empowering condition. As for those who conceptualize, their view that through these four conditions the produced and producing dharmas are linked together and arise in succession cannot be sustained. It is merely cittamatra, marks of parikalpa and attachment. The extensive meaning of the four conditions is as explained in the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi.
