'Citta' is the eighth, the storehouse consciousness (ālayavijñāna); 'manas' is the seventh consciousness; and 'vijñāna' refers to the first six consciousnesses. Thus a later verse states: 'The storehouse consciousness is called citta, the nature of intellection is called manas, and that which can perceive the characteristics of objects is therefore called vijñāna.' This means that because one awakens to the falsity of the storehouse consciousness and all evolving consciousnesses, one no longer discriminates. A 'Son of the Buddha' is a bodhisattva, meaning that one who attains the dharma free of parikalpa and vikalpa is indeed a bodhisattva, not a śrāvaka.
