Although the dharmas taught by the Tathāgata in response to capacities fill the Dragon Palace and pervade the Dharmadhātu, in reality they do not fall into written letters and verbal teachings. Written letters and spoken language are originally detached in nature, except as expedients to correctly reveal the true meaning. Those who do not fall into nominal teachings have realized the subtle intention behind the Tathāgata's teaching of the Dharma.
