“How does perfuming cause pure phenomena to arise without interruption? Namely, because the phenomenon of tathatā exists, it is able to perfume ignorance; by the power of the causes and conditions of perfuming, it causes the false mind to become weary of the suffering of saṃsāra and joyfully seek nirvāṇa. Because this false mind has the causes and conditions of weariness and seeking, it immediately perfumes tathatā, generating self-confidence in its own nature, knowing that the mind’s false movement has no objective realms before it, and cultivating methods of detachment. Because it knows in accordance with reality that there are no objective realms before it, through various expedient means it arouses compliant practice, neither grasping nor thinking, until through the power of long-term perfuming, ignorance is extinguished. Because ignorance is extinguished, the mind has no arising; because the mind has no arising, objective realms cease along with it; because causes and conditions are both extinguished, all mental marks are exhausted, which is termed attaining nirvāṇa, achieving spontaneous activity,” and so forth, as expounded at length.
