Because all dharmas flux in a moment, they must lack an intrinsic nature; because they lack an intrinsic nature, they are unborn. If they were not unborn, they would not flux. Only one who accords with the unborn sees momentariness. Hence the Vimalakīrti-nirdeśa states, 'Neither arising nor ceasing is the meaning of impermanence.'
