Those who seek the Way do not fear manifold sufferings: seeking teachers and inquiring into the Way, they do not avoid cold or heat, nor fear rushing journeys; they do not lie down day or night, practicing dhyāna, or sacrificing their bodies and lives to rescue from all sufferings. Although students of the Way have this suffering, after realizing the fruit, they come and go freely in the three realms, untrammeled and at ease. As for people of the dusty world, they only indulge the three poisons and do not think of liberation, revolving in the six realms without rest. Birth, aging, sickness, and death are ever caught in hindrances and bondages; retribution for sinful karma brings immeasurable suffering.
