梵語須陀洹，此云預流。言此果位斷盡三界分別煩惱，初預聖流也。七生七死者，於七度生死中斷盡煩惱，即得阿羅漢。

The Sanskrit term srotāpanna is translated here as "stream-enterer." This means that at this stage of fruition, having completely severed the discriminations and afflictions of the three realms, one initially enters the stream of the noble ones. "Seven births and seven deaths" means that throughout seven cycles of birth and death, having completely severed afflictions, one attains arhatship.
