1.67

愚人聞佛守大仁慈，乃恣惡辱罵於佛。佛即默然不答，蓋惜彼癡愚使如是也。

When the ignorant person heard that the Buddha maintained great benevolence and compassion, he indulged in evil and reviled the Buddha. The Buddha remained silent and did not reply, simply feeling pity that his foolishness caused him to act like this.
