二、別釋四相。然此我等行相殊常。常者但約迷執，初果已除，此乃直就修證，羅漢未曉。文中即為四段：一約事驗我、二悟我成人、三了迹迹生、四潛續如命。初謂驗其任運分自他者是其我相。文中二：一標釋麁相、二結指細相。初中二：一、徵起標示。

Second, individually explaining the four marks. Now, these aspects of the self and the others are extraordinary. The ordinary ones refer only to deluded graspings, which have already been eliminated by the first fruit [of the stream-enterer]; these, however, pertain directly to cultivation and realization, which arhats have not yet understood. Within the text there are four sections: 1. examining the self based on affairs; 2. realizing the self to constitute the person; 3. understanding traces, whereby traces arise; 4. subliminally continuing like a life[-faculty]. The first refers to examining that which spontaneously distinguishes self and other as being the mark of self. Within this text there are two parts: 1. marking and explaining the coarse marks; 2. concluding by pointing to the subtle marks. In the first there are two parts: 1. raising a query and marking it out.
