Grasping means clinging attachments, grasping at self and what belongs to self. Rejecting means turning away in revulsion, loathing the basis of suffering. Moreover, with regard to the physical faculties and body, loathing the coarse obstructions of suffering is rejecting, while delighting in pure, wondrous detachment is grasping. With regard to the vessel realm, loathing this Sahā world is rejecting, while delighting in that Sukhāvatī is grasping. Whether grasping or rejecting, in their various differences, all are the marks of saṃsāra manifested by the inverted, deluded mind. Therefore, the *Treatise* says: "All conceptual discriminations are the discrimination of one's own mind. Mind does not see mind; no mark is attainable." The *Śūraṅgama* says: "When one's own mind grasps one's own mind, what is not an illusion becomes an illusory phenomenon."
