Investigating the root and branches to cause them to be severed; 2. Clarifying the gotras to make them known. Within the first are two: 1. Indicating what is to be severed; 2. Exhorting them to sever it. The first has four: 1. Pointing to affection as the root; 2. Desire assisting to form the cause; 3. Mutually depending in turn; 4. Producing various karmic retributions.
