The sūtra says: "It is called vast and extraordinary", just like an illusory person, meaning there are various marvelous things. Just as the great bodhisattvas carry out the work of benefiting sentient beings according to their wishes, like an illusion or the moon in the water, responding to the ten thousand kinds of beings and accomplishing all of them. This is the phrase of the tathāgata's illusion-like samādhi. If one can practice like this, evil karma from beginningless births and the fruits of torment in the three realms of existence, up to the heavy karma of the unmediated hells, are eliminated in the present life, not to mention the rest. To state the essence: all the painful retributions of the three realms of existence are eradicated. Why? Because the reciter has attained abiding in the state of *samāhita*; if one contemplates such dharmatā, one departs from suffering.
