The sūtra says: "If one contemplates that mind, the unexcelled bodhicitta", it refers to the practitioner contemplating the unexcelled bodhicitta within his own mind. "Mind" refers to the unexcelled great bodhicitta. If one abides in this contemplation, one can purify the karma of body, speech, and mind. Because of being able to purify karma, one is separated from both pure and impure karma. The meaning is: if such karma arises, neither pure nor impure can defile it. The sūtra says "corresponding karma", which refers to the karma that produces this pure mind. These fruits can never defile it. Why? Because it is always in accord with the principle. For example, although a lotus grows out of the mud, it is not soiled by it. Such a practitioner is equal to all buddhas. Why? Because he is able to give birth to all tathāgatas. This is the Honoured One among humans, the Buddha. The meaning is: merely by contemplating the bodhicitta, one has already attained the fruit of the tathāgatas, how much more so when one personally realizes it in this body and attains buddhahood!
